Been very busy lately.

Last week was very busy for me. I took a week long class at Joblinks here in Greensboro, trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. I think it's time for me to go back to school. Boy oh boy doesn't that sound like a lot of fun.

I am 40 years old and the first time I went to college I was 26. I love having my website and doing craft shows throughout the year, but I need something more. I need a reason to get out of the house everyday and going back to school will give me that reason.

So if you were a 40 year old women ready to go back to school what would you want to be? I am really leaning towards being a surgical tech. I took a placement class last week and I scored really high in the health field and I figure I'm to old to become a heart or brain doc now..........lol

Anyways, I go to a class tomorrow and then next week also and then I hope I have decided by then. I would love to hear any suggestions.

Also, if you have the time, please sign up to follow my blog, you never know it might be really fun.

Until Next Time..........

  4. Surgical techs are in high demand and work steadily. HOWEVER, you could go on for your RN and make many, many times the salary a tech does. And you could still assist in surgery, as an RN.

Do you have any interest in the diagnostic medical sonography field? It is very lucrative and if you do the general program, you'll be working with lots of pregnant ladies, which can be fun.

There's lots out there in the medical field, that's for sure!

When you get back in school, just jump right in. When I went back in my 40's, I found I could do so much better than the younger students! They were on a path I had already been down, and I was ready to concentrate. Good luck to ye!

  5. Retha,

Good for you! I don't know what I'd want to be...probably a teacher...seeing that I've homeschooled my kids so long...I just love kids...definitely something to do with that, I think.

Good luck with school. I'm going to follow your blog.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit to mine!

  6. Hi Ladies,

Thanks for all the responses to me going back to school. I have spent the past week trying to really figure this whole thing out and I think I am getting closer.

My husband is like you need to do something you can learn really fast. Well I don't really think that is the answer.

I really would love to be a surgical tech, but I have also looked at other fields as well. Like make something to do with imaging. There is tons of money to be made in the medical field.

I have an appointment this week to talk about cost and will keep you all updated.
